The Snail

The Snail tackles a theme that's currently surfacing in the mainstream, one of gender identity. Nobly performed by the cast in this bare bones production. I feel the show itself was a workshop presentation of what is or aims to be a full length script. I would have liked to have seen the character arcs given more time to organically justify where they ended. The first half of the play was playful, and then, after a fun revealing mid point, took nice heartfelt turn. Worth the price... full review

Interesting piece, smoothly directed and well played by the cast. Definitely explores an underlying theme relatable to a wide audience. Saw it this afternoon and the hour fifteen run time went by rather quickly. ... full review

Meticulous. Brilliant. After one minute, I thought, "This is brilliant I can get up and leave now" because I knew what I was getting. Rational thought kept me seated to see how they'd pull it off. This company benefits from being an established group of players. The pacing was so brisk there was barely a w... full review

Wombat Man: The Cereal Murders

Zany cartoonish fun. Solid ensemble cast with two opposing leads who each commit fully to the respective roles as super hero and arch nemesis. Brian Cunningham and Jan-David Souter really kept the energy up and had nice color changes with their asides. Ensemble rounded out well, with supporting roles that served the piece nimbly. Really enjoyed Clare Wess Yauss's Lucy. Jim McCaffree's Police Chief Leibowitz paired well with John Wallis' Commissioner Borden with both clearly exhi... full review

Catherine: Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey in Today's L.A.

Enthusiastic and kinetic. Nice pacing in this modern adaptation by Stina Pederson. Allison Powell is the lynch pin of the cast with engaging performances by those around her. The piece has moments that will lead to you empathic frustration on behalf of Catherine's trials, as well as fun moments of levity. You'll leave this show feeling good with a smile. Noble fringe work. ... full review
