Seven Seductions of Taylor Swift

Thad Shafer is a brilliant, brave, funny performer. Each date offers something original and specifically it's own to the audience. There's hyperbole and over the top moments, as well as subtlety and nuance. There are reflections on fame and privacy, and private moments of pain, and awe for the girl in the title. It's a sweet show that covers a lot of ground for all it's silliness while still somehow giving a respectful nod to the country sweetheart who bakes cookies and gives us catchy pop hi... full review

30 Minute Musicals: Outbreak/Independence Day

It's kind of embarrassing to admit, but I went into this double feature having near seen either of the films they were spoofing. I only mention this because, even as an outsider not privy to all the inside jokes, this show is HILARIOUS! Tom Detrinis as Betsy the monkey is comic genius! His Blanche De Bois primate starlet is pure gold. JP Karliak is strong, funny, a born star. Chaz Bono has great stage presence and a believable authority as the President. Thomas Hobson does a spot on spoof o... full review

The Werewolves of Hollywood Blvd: A Damnable Rock Musical

This was a howling good time. Standout performances by Sarah Chaney, Jim Hanna, Leigh Wulff (love that she plays a werewolf with a name like that), Hannah Johnson, and Michael Shaw Fisher. Campy, heart-felt and fun! There were a lot of technical glitches the day I saw it, so it was sometimes hard to hear all the performances, but the committed cast pressed on and made the most. ... full review

Man's Dominion

Tim Powell is a big hearted and skilled performer who does a beautiful job of breathing life into ten distinct and fully realized characters. In the course of an hour he presents us with a Ringmaster, a vengeful priest, a simple ghost, a sweet Irish worker, a southern townsman, and several others. However, it was his brave turn as a black worker, about 3/4 into the story that really elevated his performance to an art. Surprisingly rich and perfectly realized, it was in this moment of the play t... full review

THE CONDUCT OF LIFE

michal sinnott · June 19, 2014 certified reviewer
Director Sabina Ptasznik's deft production of The Conduct of Life starts out with a breathtaking punch and barrels on through till its heart skipping end. I loved every minute of this hard to watch piece. Fornes' script is pointed, violent, and fierce, while still slowing down enough to highlight both the mundane and the sweetly tender moments of life. The performances are excellent. What a solid cast all around! Mollohan's Orlando is a raging beast that still strangely manages to draw sympa... full review
