Bitter Lemons Editor to Write and Direct World Premiere Comedy “Mission to Mate”

LOS ANGELES, May 20, 2012 — Sati Productions presents MISSION TO MATE, a theatrical triptych sure to tickle your dipstick, three plays, two actors, one hour, a subtly connected trio of one acts dissecting the sometimes hilarious, sometimes harrowing, always enthralling world of “seduction”.

Employing the veteran acting talents of New York trained Alla Poberesky, who Bill Raden of the LA Weekly lauded as “an unusually powerful and memorable Hecuba [Trojan Women]; the whiskey-voiced Alla Poberesky’s sonorous and silky delivery could melt even the most hardened of Argive hearts.” And the newfound skills of Michael Sanchez, one of LA’s rising acting stars, the production also boasts the talents of writer/director, Colin Mitchell. Besides being the Editor-in-Chief of LA’s most popular theatre site, Bitter Lemons, Mitchell is also an award-winning, critically acclaimed playwright. Some of his outstanding production credits, from Off-Broadway to Seattle to San Francisco to Los Angeles, include, “Breaking and Entering” (Theatre 40), “Bitten by a Fly” (Alleyway Theatre) and “Linden Arden Stole the Highlights” (Two Roads).

“Mission to Mate” unfolds as a series of three one-acts; “The Twinkle in your Eye” a darkly comic coffee shop encounter that becomes something other than it originally seems; “The Naked Cello” a bizarre late night phone call that quickly expands to Orton-esque proportions; and “Mission to Mate” a barroom come-on that stretches the boundaries of time, space and love. Each play is a two-hander, each takes place in Los Angeles, each is bound to the other through the sultry and sometimes slippery theme of seduction, as well as several thread-like plot points that are sure to challenge the audience like a good-old fashioned whodunit thriller. The one-hour show also employs dance in a way you may have never seen before and may never see again.

Come. And be seduced.
