Hollywood, CA – May XX, 2012 – Hollywood’s hottest new musical TV show ‘Natasha Mail Order Bride Escape to America©’
(www.natashamailorderbride.com) is this year’s ‘grab it by the balls’ Hollywood Fringe Festival (www.hollywoodfringe.org/projects/907) favorite and opening preview show at 4:00pm on June 10th at The Complex, 6470 Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood.
Written and produced by Canadian-born actress Brooke Forbes (www.brookeforbes.com), the comedy musical sit-com has been designed and developed specifically for a television audience, and is complete with belly dancers and live original music. Leading the 15 strong cast is Brooke herself, playing the main character role of Natasha, a cross between Lucille Ball and a female Borat.
“With her own ‘How to Be an American’ scrapbook as a guide, Natasha ever the upbeat optimist, takes on impossible challenges with wide eyed enthusiasm. “says Brooke “She always gets it done; sometimes it’s with guts, sometimes it’s just luck, and sometimes it’s illegal, but it’s always hysterical.” continues Brooke. “Natasha is a ‘fish out of water’ but determined to fit in, and live the all American dream.”
Audiences will fall in love with Natasha, a citizen from the 4th world country of Crapistan, destined to ‘live the American dream’. Ever since she was a little girl growing up in Crapistan, Natasha has devoured all things American. Finally, through the wonders of the internet, she finds her way to a Bel Air mansion and into the loving arms of a socially inept internet mogul. After a “Hangover 2” type night Eugene, her new husband, thought he was ordering over the internet a blow-up doll but what he ordered was certainly not just any ordinary piece of plastic adult entertainment, but the real thing, his very own mail order bride.
‘Natasha Mail Order Bride Escape to America©’ is a sidesplitting ‘must see’ TV show. The cast and crew have adapted the 40 minute show for a live audience at The Hollywood Fringe Festival, and is previewing for the entertainment industry and media only at 4:00pm on June 10th at 6470 Theatre at The Complex, 6470 Santa Monica Boulevard in Hollywood. The show later opens to the public on Saturday June 16th at 6:00 pm, Thursday June 21st at 8:00 pm and closes on Saturday June 23rd at 4:30 pm.

About Brooke Forbes
Famed for being a ‘Triple Threat’ Canadian-born actress Brooke Forbes’s career has taken her to great heights. She recently acted as pop icon Lady Gaga in the new Penelope Spheris Film ‘Balls to the Wall’ and in the Oscar winning Tim Burton movie ‘Alice in Wonderland’ where she was the Queen’s Courtier. Her acting success continues with being cast as a principal performer in numerous US national commercials including GM Cadillac Cars, Toyota, Labatt’s Blue Beer, Hostess Frito-Lay, AT &T, and Weight Watchers.
As a professional dancer she has toured with various high profile international dance companies throughout Europe, Japan, Morocco, Hawaii, Canada and the United States, performing with music legends Frank Sinatra, James Brown and Diana Ross and the Temptations. Brooke has also performed to Royalty including a world renowned performance for Prince Albert of Monaco, and her original musical twice for King Hasan, the King of Morocco in Africa. As a vocalist Brooke appeared with the Starlight Orchestra, a 22 piece Orchestra, most notably in a gala performance for President Clinton in Washington.
Her musical theatre background led her to choreograph and perform her original act in the off-Broadway Theatre “Tatou” in New York City. She launched the campaign for Galoob Toys ‘Skydancer’ doll, originating the part of the live character in New York City, has performed as ‘Sandy’ the female lead in ‘Grease the Tour’, and as ‘Madonna’ in her own ‘Ray of Light’ tribute show for the Canadian Armed Forces in Bosnia, Sarajevo, Trinidad and most recently in Japan, for the U.S. Navy, USO Tours.
Brooke created the character ‘Natasha’ after performing a “Russian Spartan woman” in the Hollywood Play “Lysistrata”. Out of boredom on the social scene in every “watering hole” in Los Angeles, Brooke started acting as the young girl from the fantasy 4th world country of Crapistan, which eventually this led her to creating a Stand-Up piece as the audacious character in the Los Angeles Stand-Up Comedy circuit. With rave reviews and audiences left wanting to see more, Brooke decided to develop her ‘Natasha’ character further and penned a Pilot for a Half-hour TV show ready to be pitched to major Networks and titled it ‘Natasha Mail Order Bride Escape to America’.
Brooke holds copyrights, trademarks, WGAW, and licensing rights for ‘Natasha Mail Order Bride Escape to America’, ‘Crapistani Bride’ and ‘Who’s that Girl?’ a musical with 22 original songs, pitched for Broadway. Brooke is a member of AFTRA/SAG and EQUITY union affiliations both in the US and Canada.
Kristen Boule – Director
A filmmaker and musical theatre director from Baltimore, Kristen is excited to be making her Hollywood Fringe debut! Most recently, her new musical ‘Dreams in Variation’ premiered last fall at the Hudson Backstage, with hopes of a regional run coming soon (www.dreamsinvariation.com ) Next, Kristen is directing for Above the Curve Theatre Company for their upcoming one act festival, while also beginning to workshop new material, primarily for film. David Svengalis – Producer
Theatre Manager of the Complex Theatres in Hollywood, California, David has produced and managed many theatre shows and is “hands on” with the ‘Natasha’ project at his venue. He is producing, casting, and managing all aspects of Natasha the musical.
Kate Bowman – Co-Producer, Co-Writer, Actress
Kate Bowman is originally from Baltimore, MD. She received a BFA in Musical Theater from The Boston Conservatory. You may have seen her on the Special Features of the ‘True Blood: Season One’ DVD, in ‘Shedding Light on Vampires in America’, a pre-quil to the series. She has also done several indie films, like ‘Darwin’s Privy’, ‘The Life and Times of Andrew Quinn’, and recently starred in a short called ‘Acknowledge’. She starred in a world premiere at the Hudson Theater, of the new musical, ‘Dreams in Variation’, created and directed by Kristen Boulé, who she’s excited to be joining forces with, once again, on this project. She also recently played Catherine in David Auburn’s ‘Proof’, with the MET, at the Mesa Arts Center, in Arizona. Kate has worked alongside Brooke Forbes, and has seen Natasha develop from the very beginning.
