(Los Angeles, CA May, 2012)… The Orgasmico Theatre Company is pleased to introduce a world premiere production of, DOOMSDAY CABARET! A ROCK MUSICAL OF APOCALYPTIC PROPORTIONS at this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival on June 9th, 2012 – at Hollywood’s Lounge Theatre.

About The Show

It is December 21, 2012 – the date when the Mayans, the Egyptians, Nostradamus and others predicted the world would end. An eclectic group of doomsday-obsessed freaks, geeks and capitalists assemble in San Bernardino’s Community Center to argue their theories, hawk their books, and maybe even get laid. As the doomsday clock counts down, each character takes the microphone to deliver a unique rock n’ roll dissertation to the crowd.
Grab a nametag and join the symposium to see which “doomer” will be right? How will the world finally end? What kind of disturbed and embittered individual could possibly believe this crap?
The truth shall be known in time.

With book, music and lyrics by Michael Shaw Fisher (Barking Pig), direction by Chris Raymond (Beginnings) and Musical Direction from Michael Teoli (Carnevil), “Doomsday Cabaret…” is a timely musical that uses humor and a pantheon of rock-styles to explore a sub-culture of outcasts desperate for an armageddon. Backed by a full band, the doomers provoke laughs and sympathy as they face the most frightening conceivable “revelation”: friendship.

Why “Doomsday…?”

The Orgasmico Theatre Company made its debut in Hollywood Fringe Festival 2011 with the Barking Pig. Michael Shaw Fisher was preparing to mount a rock musical parody of the Exorcist when he got a kind-yet-firm warning from William Peter Blatty to cease and desist until the Geffen Playhouse’s Exorcist finished it’s theatrical run. Fisher cried for a day and then threw himself into the even more ambitious, DOOMSDAY CABARET, which unites some powerful voices of the LA theatre scene. Fisher brought his Doomsday demos of to Sacred Fool’s resident maestro, Michael Teoli (Carnevil, Tonya & Nancy) who wrote additional music and signed on as Musical Director. Chris Raymond of the Blank Theatre applied his keen directorial insight to a cast of true rockers.
The cast of actors and true rockers includes:
David Haverty, Sarah Chaney, Chairman Barnes, Lauren Andrea Nelsen, Mark Bemesderfer, Jake Regal, Michael Shaw Fisher, Sarah Kay, and J. Scott Howell.

This is sure to be one of the most wildly fun, sublimely rocking, and certifiably original musical at this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival.
