FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEHOLLYWOOD – 5/2/2012

On the heels of his international hit “The Birthday Boys” (2010 Fringe First Award for Best World Premiere & 2010 LA Fringe Critic’s Choice Award), playwright/director Aaron Kozak returns to the Hollywood Fringe Festival, in partnership with LA’s Theatre Unleashed, to present his new Epic Western drama “Round Rock.”

Round Rock is the Texas legend of the Sam Bass Gang, a group of notorious outlaws in the late 1800’s best known for committing one of the largest train robberies in U.S. history. At the center of a jurisdictional crisis between the old and new law enforcement agencies of America, the gang must choose between a life of adventure and life of convention. A story about love and friendship, this full length play from the acclaimed playwright brings the traditional Western to stage in a drama unlike any other.

“The Western is a uniquely American genre that appears in every story-telling medium,” Kozak said, “but it’s difficult to think of many Western plays. I really focused on finding the humanity in the classic cowboy archetypes. Behind the legend, The Sam Bass Gang were men coming to terms with the harsh reality that you reap what you sow.”
