William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing

Press preview: June 8
Performances: June 14, 21, 22, 29, 30

Benedick swears he has no interest in marrying any woman, and Beatrice says she’d rather die than marry a man: they must be in love with each other, right? This never before seen production of Shakespeare’s classic comedy dares to ask if our leading man and leading lady are actually even in love, or was the play just written to end that way? This summer come find out and hear Shakespeare like it’s never been heard before.

Featuring an exciting cast of up and coming Hollywood talent and a bevy of toe-tapping hits from the 50’s and 60’s, William Shakesepeare’s Much Ado About Nothing reinterprets the shows’ themes through a modern lens, while engaging with the historical context in which it was both written and read in the centuries since: plus, it features even more drag than in the year 1600! The Hudson Theaters’ Backstage will be host to this experimental, gender-bending production and you are cordially invited to come laugh, tap your feet, gasp in shock, and see how it all plays out.

Clocking in at just over an hour, this brisk and energetic show may have removed a few of Shakespeare’s words, but left all the rest exactly as they were. Not a word has been changed, so were these characters maybe hiding between the lines all along?

Have a drink and check out one of our late night shows, or have brunch with the gang before our matinee. Now matter how you arrive, come ready to have a blast and see the old and new collide in this can’t miss production.

Tickets go on sale May 1st. Don’t miss your chance!
