HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FESTIVAL

In association with
SPOKEN WORD FESTIVAL
Proudly Present the…
WORLD PREMIERE of

BLOOD FRUIT

This fabulous solo show will premiere on June 18th, June 21st, and June 24th at the Lounge 1 Theatre in Hollywood.

A gay, ex-Catholic, Iraqi bear tells his conservative Iraqi parents he likes boys in this funny and bittersweet American drama.

The Hollywood Fringe Festival in association with Spoken Word Festival is proud to present BLOOD FRUIT, written and performed by Majd Murad, directed by Bethany Kraemer, and developed with Eric Trules.

THE STORY: Majd Murad, an Americanized immigrant from Iraq, comes out of the closet to his friends at school only to be faced with a major problem: Should he tell his conservative Catholic Iraqi family? Follow Majd as he deals with his gay ex-Catholic, Iraqi experience of telling his family once and for all that he likes boys, and the drama that ensues. Be forewarned: Flying shoes may be a clear and present danger in this twisted tragicomedy.

MAJD MURAD is a writer, performer, director, maskmaker, and educator. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of California, Riverside, where he was the recipient of the Richard Risso Endowed Award in Theatre, the Academic Excellence Award in Theatre two years in a row, and six fellowships from the Gluck Program of the Arts. Some of his best roles include Eliot in Charles Evered’s Celadine, Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, Helmer in A Doll House, and Mr. Mayor in Seussical! Blood Fruit marks his first solo show and he will continue to perfect it and perform it around the globe.
