ARMAGEDDON: A Night of Laughs and Pleasant Songs

HOLLYWOOD, CA (May 29, 2011) – Musical duo Thu Tran and Rachel Garcia plan the first musical performance ever to be staged after the end-of-the-world. In an effort to reach fellow survivors, guests Thu Tran and Rachel Garcia will host ARMAGEDDON: A NIGHT OF LAUGHS AND PLEASANT SONGS!

Three shows have been announced — June 24, 25 and 26 to take place at The Complex Theatres in Hollywood.

If you are tired of Coldplay, the only other surviving musical group in the post-apocalyptic scene, ARMAGEDDON is the show for you. From zombie raps to power ballads Thu Tran and Rachel Garcia amp up the noise for their premier show in the former center of the entertainment universe — Hollywood!

Rachel and Thu came together shortly after dooms day and they have been making music ever since. Their budding celebrity romance has been the center of articles by Claudia Cataclysm (Cosmo Magazine’s last surviving editor!) Experience their first ever live show through this partnership with The Apocalypse Players.

THU TRAN: Musical Guest
Thu Tran graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Theatre Arts Performance, and has been composing and performing original music for 8 years. He is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist (guitar, ukulele, banjo, piano, and harmonica) and songwriter. Thu has performed with The Whitefire Theater Company, Here and Now Theater Company, and, most recently, the Rogue Artists Ensemble. He is also involved with Stop & Listen, LA, a non-profit organization focused on enriching the Los Angeles community through music (www.stopandlistenla.org). Thu recently composed an original piece of music that was featured in the Rogue Artists Ensemble’s production “Hyperbole: Origins” that performed as a part of [Inside] the Ford’s 2010 season. His music will be featured in an upcoming independent short film titled “Meditations: Supper.” He is currently performing and recording with his partner and musical collaborator, Rachel Garcia, as a part of the musical duo Ampersand (www.ampersandband.com)

RACHEL GARCIA: Musical Guest
Rachel moved to Los Angeles two and half years ago from the Bay Area. She has a BA in theatre arts from San Francisco State. Rachel and Thu have a real band called Ampersand, check out there music at www.ampersandband.com

ALICYN PACKARD: Mutant Melissa
Whether she’s acting on screen, doing stand up, or rocking the mic, you can bet Alicyn’s having fun. As a stand up comic, Ali’s unique brand of stand-up has graced the stages of The World Famous Improv, The Comedy Store many more clubs across the country. As a voice over artist, her enthusiasm and artistic dedication are on full display as the voices of ‘Miss Sunshine,’ ‘Miss Whoops,’ and ‘Miss Naughty’ in Cartoon Network’s Emmy-nominated animated program, “The Mr. Men Show." Other series credits include three characters in the hit series “Olivia” currently airing on Nickelodeon. She also gained the attention of legions of video game enthusiasts through her work on “Prince of Persia: Warrior Within” and as the ‘Female Blood Elf’ in the international smash hit, “World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade.” On screen she has starred in the award-winning indie comedy feature “Alondra Smiles”, the psychological thriller, “World Full of Nothing,” and numerous short films. Ali also originated the role of ‘Jenn’ in the world-premiere of cosmic rock musical “Earth Sucks." Variety called Alicyn’s duet in “Earth Sucks” a “highlight of the show.” Alicyn is also currently producing her new web-series “Inside Alicyn’s Wonderland,” an interview show that goes through the looking glass into the wild world of animation to sit down with the folks behind the cartoons you love (www.alicynswonderland.com).
