“DYSTOPIA” RECEIVES ENCORE AWARD & BEST ENSEMBLE NOMINATION
The Only All-Female Improvised Fringe Show Has Been Awarded A Special Encore Performance

HOLLYWOOD, CA (6/29/17) – Ripley presents DYSTOPIA has received an ENCORE Producers’ Award from the Complex Theatres and nomination for BEST ENSEMBLE from the Hollywood Fringe Festival community. The completely improvised show tells the tales of young women coming of age against a dystopian backdrop. Like the heroines of The Hunger Games and Divergent, the women of Ripley’s “DYSTOPIA” rise up and fight the oppressive powers that rule their lives.

The ENCORE Producers’ Awards are given to shows that represent artistic merit and have achieved commercial success. A committee made up of representatives from each participating venue votes to determine the recipients. This year marked the largest Hollywood Fringe Festival yet with 375 participating shows. Ripley is unique amongst the ENCORE winners in that it is the only complete improvised show to receive the award this year!

After only three festival performances, “DYSTOPIA” was one of five shows to be nominated for BEST ENSEMBLE. The nominees for this award are the top five ensembles as voted by a community of Hollywood Fringe Festival patrons and participants. Ripley’s “DYSTOPIA” is extremely dependent upon the success of the ensemble, as the actors and technical improvisors are weaving a new, cohesive, and inventive story together before the eyes of the audience.

Ripley Improv’s cast of seven women includes Madi Goff, Laurie Jones, Kelly Lohman, Sara Mountjoy-Pepka, Aliza Pearl, Amanda Troop, and Jessica Lynn Verdi. Ripley’s technical director and sound designer is Emily Rose Jacobson. “DYSTOPIA” was directed by Amanda Troop and produced for the Hollywood Fringe Festival by Kelly Lohman and Jessica Lynn Verdi.
