Los Angeles, CA, May 26th, 2107. Award-winning actress and playwright, Terra Taylor Knudson, premiere’s her one-woman show “Willy’s Lil Virgin Queen”, at Hollywood Fringe Festival June 4th, 10th, 17th, 21st and 24th at Asylum@ Studio C – 6448 Santa Monica Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90038. This seventy-five minute piece is a mad-cap, comic romp as Willy Shakespeare teaches a 20th century “lil virgin” how to skip the prince and be the queen she was always meant to be.

From the first moment she was introduced to the world of William as a child, Terra has been devoted to him. As the longest love affair of her life, “Willy” has influenced every aspect of her life from her first love; (“Hamlet in a red Chevy convertible with a white top and grey interior”), to her first time away from home; (“If Viola can survive a shipwreck, I can survive Kenmore Square!”). From her first audition; (“I was a Joan of Arc in high heels.”), to the day she met her hero; (“A demi-god of theatre! Naturally, I had no idea who she was.”), Terra demonstrates the essential and often comical ways that the Bard has shaped her life.

In addition to the humorously awkward moments of growing up, “Willy’s Lil Virgin Queen” is also an exploration into some of the darker aspects of adolescence like depression, bullying, trauma and even suicide. But by filtering the darker aspects of her life through the lens of Shakespeare’s words, Terra connects his classic characters with real-life circumstances, providing an opportunity to see them in a contemporary and more accessible light.

Whether Shakespeare scholar or nervous newbie, the Los Angeles Premiere of "Willy’s Lil Virgin Queen” at the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival dishes up ample helpings of language, laughs and Bard-inspired love as Willy aids in the journey of a young woman discovering her voice in a world of words, words, words.
