FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOS ANGELES, May 2017 – Hot on the heels of its Pittsburgh Fringe production, The Principle (winner for Best Writing), The Happy/Sad Artist Collective is thrilled to announce its West Coast debut with Brittany Stahl’s female- driven comedy Daddy Walks Like A Slut. As part of The Hollywood Fringe Festival, the performance dates are June 1, 11 and 14 at Studio/Stage in Koreatown.

Originally three short pieces, Daddy Issues, Walk of Shame and SLUT will be presented under the combined title of Daddy Walks Like A Slut in one thirty-minute period. While each of these dark comedies has its own setting and characters, including purgatory, coeds and Jesus, they are thematically linked in that they challenge stereotypical perceptions of women.

As writer/director/actor Brittany Stahl describes it, “The show is a probing examination of femininity in that awkward position where you hold your purse while washing your hands in a public restroom.” Walking the fine line between captivating and offensive, Daddy Walks Like A Slut is sure to make you laugh but could just as easily make you squirt some tears.

“Stahl’s collection is a funny and poignant commentary on the sexualization of women throughout history,” said Artistic Director Alan Stevens. “At its heart, it is about the strength and resilience of women.”

A marked distinction from the dystopian political drama that Happy/Sad produced for Pittsburgh Fringe, Daddy Walks Like A Slut just might be the feminist/rape culture/abortion comedy you’ve been waiting for.
