Star Trek meets Rent meets Battlestar Galactica meets Trump, is battle of good vs bad, ideals vs opportunism, Trump vs Trump, plus music. Set 400 years in the future, this sci-fi absurdist comedy imagines a humanity divided among starships seeking a new home. The left leaning Starship California leads the rebellion against the still-in-power Trump regime led by Captain Natasha Trump and the mysterious Executive. Campy political musical comedy in SPACE!

Trump in Space, a new musical comedy adventure, written by Gillian Bellinger and Landon Kirksey, will debut at the Hollywood Fringe Festival with 5 performances at The Actors Company Let Live Theater. Trump in Space is set to run Friday 6/3 at 10pm, Friday 6/16 at 11:30pm, Saturday 6/17 at 5:30pm, Friday 6/23 at 8:30pm, and Saturday 6/24 at 5:30pm.

The cast features veteran actors and comedians including Gillian Bellinger, Rachel Boller, Kevin Richards, Landon Kirksey, Muriel Montgomery, Scott Palmason, Nikki Bittogrino, Don Schlossman, and Jim Shipley.

Directed by Matt Zettell, with music by veteran composing team, Sam Johnides and Tony Gonzalez, TRUMP IN SPACE was created as a response to the 2016 election. “I felt defeated by the whole election and wanted to respond to what I felt like was a tragedy in the best way I knew how, through comedy,” said writer and actor Gillian Bellinger. “I wanted to infuse joy and laughter into what I perceive as sad and scary reality. I wanted to give people something to laugh at and give them distance and space, pun intended.” She and Kirksey are both Westside Comedy Theater improvisers, Texans, and politically likeminded artists. “We felt we had something to say about the world, in a funny way, so we’re saying it like one always should, through song,” Kirksey said.
