"BEST OF LA" LOCAL BOOKSTORE THE RIPPED BODICE TO HOST HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FUNDRAISER

LOS ANGELES (April 15, 2017) — Fans of The Ripped Bodice (named “Best Romance Novel Shop” in LA Weekly’s 2016 “Best of LA”) and of local, female-produced theater are in for a treat: The Ripped Bodice is teaming up with Cockeyed Optimist Productions to host a Hollywood Fringe Fundraiser on Sunday, April 30th at 11 am.

Join the production team and cast for a special sneak-preview of the upcoming Hollywood Fringe world premiere production of Emergency Operation. Shop romance novels and peruse the shelves to your heart’s content while you nibble on snacks and enjoy mimosas. Comedian and Co-Host of The Ripped Bodice’s hit “Romantic Comedy” stand-up night Jenny Chalikian will be on hand to host the proceedings. Cast members will perform a reading of the first 10 pages of the play. Chalikian and cast members will share touching and hilarious stories of heart-break and break-ups culled from audience members. And to top it all off, the production team will raffle off a break-up basket including two complimentary tickets to the show, a Meg Ryan film on DVD, wine, ice cream, and a romance novel.

There is a $10 suggested donation.

Based on a 10-min play developed through Playground-LA and winner of People’s Choice, Emergency Operation is a love story about a break-up. When Adam discovers his girlfriend Kelsey has cheated, he decides to fix his broken heart with surgery. While Adam has the opportunity to start fresh, Kelsey can’t let go of a relationship she thought meant everything to her. In a dramedy full of humor, emotion, and surprises—characters learn that actions have consequences and there is no such thing as a quick fix in matters of the heart. Driven by an all female production team, Emergency Operation tackles heartbreak with humor, wit, and love.
