Los Angeles, CA May 1st, 2016—UTERINE AFFAIRS Or The Inconceivable Conception, an ensemble play from Paris, France, will make its world premiere during the 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival at the Lounge Theatre, June 4th through June 25th.

UTERINE AFFAIRS tells the journey of Mary Joan Holy, who affirms to be pregnant while still a virgin. Her Freudian gynecologist sets her on a never ending trip to various irrational places, on an unfruitful pursuit to terminate her gestation. Will she be guillotined?

In the tradition of the Theatre of the Absurd (Ionesco, Beckett), this subversive comedy explores the status of women in the society as they deal with personal issues in a man’s world. Through sexual, religious, and historical references, the play, in its own irrational world, tackles controversial topics in a hilarious way.

What should you expect from a French absurdist play? Anything! This is not a pipe. This is not a test. This is not a play. It’s only the suspicion that absurdity is closest to reality.

UTERINE AFFAIRS is the first venture of artist collective Lady Barbe-Bleue, created by French playwright Céline Nyanga and Spanish writer/producer Mónica Gozalbo. With an international cast, featuring award-winning British actor Martin Rayner (Freud’s Last Session). Ages 18+
