DEFENDING AGAINST EROS: THREE ONE ACT PLAYS
RECEIVES WORLD PREMIERE AT THE FIRST ANNUAL HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FESTIVAL

Hollywood, CA (June 9, 2010) – Polymanus Productions presents the world premiere of “Defending Against Eros: Three One Act Plays” at the East Theater at The Complex as a part of the first annual Hollywood Fringe Festival.

“Defending Against Eros: Three One Act Plays” is a collection of short plays inspired by Bouguereau’s painting, “A Young Girl Defending Herself Against Eros.” This production presents the work of three playwrights, each with a very different voice. The three plays are:

“Eros,” written by Bryy Miller, directed by Gwendolyn Dreyer
Eros, Dionysus, Athena, and Phoebus are on a trip to the Getty Museum, at Eros’ request, to view the painting, “A Young Girl Defending Herself Against Eros.” The events that transpire reveal the baggage and humanity that the gods carry with them.

“Interrogation,” written by Nicholas Doan, directed by Joshua Grant
When one broken-hearted man decides to rid the world of the unloved, he forces an unwilling participant to acknowledge the love that she’s denied herself.

“Coda,” written by Cynthia Glucksman, directed by Vincent Tula
Four strangers in a Co-Dependents Anonymous meeting reveal the complexities of love and the power of dependency. What they ultimately discover is that resisting love is easier than surrendering to vulnerability.

“Defending Against Eros: Three One Act Plays” was written specifically for the first annual Hollywood Fringe Festival and is produced by Gwendolyn Dreyer. The running time is 90 minutes with no intermission.
