NEW HOLLYWOOD FRINGE PLAY PONDERS THE SIMPLER, SWEETER LIFE OF SINGER JOHN MAYER PRE-TWITTER-AND-TMZ IN THE "HILARIOUS" BACK TO YOU: A DEAR JOHN (MAYER) LETTER

Back to You: A Dear John (Mayer) Letter

In the new original play, “Back to You: A Dear John (Mayer) Letter,” singer John Mayer remembers back to his
pre-celebrity days when life at 18 was about playing music, pumping gas and exploring the ups and downs of young love.

BlogTO calls the play “hilarious” with “razor sharp wit”.
John Mayer’s a “douchebag.” Everyone knows it. He knows it. Tired of his tabloid tenure as Hollywood’s “Mr. Wrong”, he sets out to find his long-lost Japanese summer school love, Rihanna (no, not that one) to right his romantic mistakes. Inevitable hijinks ensue when Rihanna’s pals, Carly, an aspiring singer, and Calvin, a wannabe celeb blogger, learn of their friend’s secret ex-boyfriend and realize their own artistic careers could benefit from a Mayer-iffic meeting, and then do everything in their power to make it happen—even if it means creating a “Heartbreak Warfare.”

“Back to You: A Dear John (Mayer) Letter” has its American debut at the first Hollywood Fringe Festival from June 17-20 where it will play at the famed ComedySportz Theatre.
WHEN: June 17 @ 9PM, June 18th @ 9PM, June 19th @ 3PM & 11PM, June 20th @ 3PM
LOCATION: ComedySportz Theatre LA, 733 Seward Street, Hollywood
“Back to You: A Dear John (Mayer) Letter” stars: Martin Lindquist as “John”, Carla Lopez as “Carly”, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll as “Calvin” and Brianne Hogan as “Rihanna”.
It is written/directed/produced by Brianne Hogan.
Throughout her career, the universe has connected Brianne Hogan to John Mayer in unusual ways. While a student at NYU, her first major internship involved opening and forwarding Mayer’s fan mail at the music management company he left before moving on to new representation. After graduating from NYU, her first post-grad job was at the famed Comedy Cellar where Mayer would debut his “stand-up ” material. Besides a brief encounter in the hallway where it seemed John Mayer gave Brianne “cut-eye” (or maybe it was “come-hither-eye”?) their paths only zig-zagged, never crossed.
Both mesmerized and horrified by his antics, Brianne has given John Mayer a voice pre-celebrity, showing that his softer side may have fallen in love at least once. Despite the Twitter-fessions and ridiculous interviews, there may be a good guy in John Mayer somewhere—certainly, he pops up in” Back To You: A Dear John (Mayer) Letter.”

Tickets are $12; $10 for Students . They can be purchased through the Hollywood Fringe website: www.hollywoodfringe.org or by calling: 1-866-811-4111.
