Arts Council for CSUN Awards First Matadors Community Credit Union Award for Student Projects
CHATSWORTH, CA – May 21, 2015 – The Arts Council for CSUN (California State University, Northridge) awarded the first annual Matadors Community Credit Union Award for Student Projects to Sean Boring at an Awards Ceremony in Northridge on May 8th.
This is the first award of its kind for the Credit Union, and was implemented by the Arts Council for CSUN to give a student in the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication the opportunity to fund and bring to fruition a creative project of their choice.
The winner of the $1,000 award was CSUN Student Sean Boring, who created an original one-act play called “Thumb Wars”, that “shines an absurd light onto the way we communicate and date today; where we rely more on detached interactions (texting) versus holding actual conversations with one another.” Sean plans to showcase his play at the upcoming 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival.
“The process of reviewing proposals and selecting a recipient was incredibly rewarding,” said Dena Dahilig, immediate past President of The Arts Council for CSUN. “The pool of talent coming out of the CSUN arts departments is phenomenal. And our Student Project Award is only one of the many opportunities for students made possible by the Arts Council’s partnership with Matadors Community Credit Union.”
