“Am I a Grownup Yet?” by Grayson Morris

This hilarious and touching one woman show explores what it means to be a child-like woman trapped in an adult’s life. A multi-disciplinary artist, Morris uses cartoons, toy theater, and shadow puppetry to illustrate her true personal stories.

A one woman show written and performed by comedian and puppeteer Grayson Morris

The show opens with a toy theater scene of a house representing an idealized version of what a normal woman’s life might be like. Morris explains that she has none of these “lady things:” no money, no boyfriend, no house, no kid, no job, no plan. She tells stories of her dating mishaps and prolonged celibacy. She tells stories of being broke and making bad decisions and trying to appear responsible at various jobs. She tells about getting cancer and learning to revere life itself. She recounts with shadow puppets her great grandmother’s, grandmother’s, and mother’s experiences of being women, far removed from the modern world Morris must navigate alone.
