COMING TO ZIMBABWE – After Successful African Tour, Presents US Premiere as part of Hollywood Fringe

Los Angeles, CA. Just back from a successful tour of Africa with his one man show, James Carey returns home to present Coming To Zimbabwe as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival. During February and March of this year, Carey was touring his show to theatres in Zimbabwe, Malawi, and South Africa. Upon his return to LA, the show was accepted into the Fringe Festival where he will be performing five (5) shows at Studio/Stage at 520 N. Western Blvd. in Hollywood, 90004.

In 2012, theater director James Carey left his hometown Los Angeles and traveled to Zimbabwe in southern Africa to work with school children and teach drama classes. Nothing in his life prepared him for this life-changing adventure that working and traveling in Africa presented.

James Carey wrote his overwhelming and adventurous experiences down, and adapted it for the stage as a One Man Show. A touching and heart-warming true story of one man’s journey of self-discovery and renewal as working with school children in Zimbabwe led to the questioning we all must experience at some point in our lives, and that help guide us to new opportunities and perspectives.

In spring 2013, he returned to Africa, and debuted with his show at the Harare International Festival of Arts. The show was such a great success that the running got extended after the festival, playing for a delighted audience at the ‘Reps Theatre’ in Harare, Zimbabwe. It was also during HIFA that a German producer, the Konrad-Adneauer Stiftung, bought the world wide radio broadcast rights to the play. It is now being broadcast around the world in German.

In February 2014, James Carey once again returned to Africa to do a short tour with his show in South-Eastern Africa – that included the Reps Theater in Harare, Zimbabwe; in Malawi, he performed at the Madsoc Theater in Lilongwe; and in Cape Town, South Africa, his show appeared at the Theatre Arts Admin Collective.
