Fugitive Kind is one of LA’s newest, most vibrant ensembles – made up of people who believe that theater should be more alive, more sensual, and more true.

Previewing June 10, in Fugitive Kind’s breathless, visceral style, director Amanda McRaven and playwright Meghan Brown finally realize many years of desired collaboration. The Fire Room is the company’s Fringe debut. In this stunning new play, we grit our teeth and try to ask what love really means. Along the way we discover it is devastating, completely confusing, and sometimes, exactly right.

Set in a surreal afterlife where the “Died Alones” go, the ghosts of Meredith (a modern girl) and JW (a boiler room attendant from 1867) try to find some sort of love. When Meredith’s lover from life arrives, everything is called into question. Meanwhile JW seeks what he’s never had in the arms of Eunice, a wild and troubled soul, holding back her loneliness with moonshine and the Charleston.

“The play reminds me about never really leaving anything behind, we carry our past with us, I suppose it’s simply how we manage that load, how we learn and how we don’t,” says actor Jim Senti.

Featuring company members Rachel Grate, Sage Howard, Maricella Ibarra, Mercedes Manning, Marissa Moses, Sena Ramirez, Jim Senti, and Jason Vande Brake. Set by Jeanine Ringer, Lighting by Karyn Lawrence, Costumes by Rachel Stivers. Live accompaniment by Composer Aaron Beaumont, Assistant Direction by Sam Everett Baker.
