Get Lucky with “The Third Date” at the Hollywood Fringe Festival

New one-act comedy makes one couple’s date feel like two’s a crowd

LOS ANGELES (May 20, 2013) ⎯ A lot of couples go on first dates, some go on second dates but even fewer make it to the third date when decisions are made and relationships either blossom or implode. “The Third Date” is a hilariously awkward one-act comedy debuting at the Hollywood Fringe Festival that allows the audience to join Evan and Allie’s third date. The momentous occasion is fraught with expectations. Anticipation! Sexual tension! Excitement! Prepare for none of them to be met as their imaginations take over and their former flames show up. Unfortunately, they have a lot to say.

Written by Deborah Gross, a graduate of the Upright Citizens Brigade, and directed by Doug Hannah, editor on USA’s Burn Notice and White Collar, the cast features Rebecca Mader (Lost), Megan Raye Manzi (The Exquisite Corpse Project), Peter Cilella (Resolution) and Chris Wylde (Space Cowboys).

“Dating often provides some of the best comedic material,” said Deborah Gross, “The Third Date” creator and writer. “I wrote this play, which may or may not be based on dates I’ve experienced, to show that it’s sometimes our own neuroses that get in the way. Sometimes, you just have to go with it.”
