O, Fallen One

May 1st, 2013
Hollywood, CA — O, Fallen One is a brand new theatre piece that cracks open the text of Hamlet and explores the untold story of one of its most tragic characters: Ophelia. This insightful tale is told through the eyes of a girl of our time who, due to incredible emotional trauma, has retreated into Ophelia’s world. The piece explores Ophelia’s memories, dreams, and thoughts leading up to her death. As the doctors, nurses and loved ones fight to return her modern day counterpart to sanity, the young girl falls deeper into Ophelia’s reality. The original script by Sinan Zafar combines the words of Shakespeare and poetic movement, inventing a fluid world where loss,
oppression, and untold stories can be examined. Avid Shakespeare fans will recognize the words and the story, but they will have a unique opportunity to look at the story they know through a different lens.

Curlicue & Co. is comprised of a group of UCI Alumni who are passionate about Shakespeare and movement theatre. The show is a collaboration of all those involved and therefore, a truly unique work of love.

O, Fallen One is being produced as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival by Jaymie Bellous and Megan Ruble and is directed by Jaymie Bellous. The ensemble cast features Amanda Carson, Chris Hull, Samantha Kellie, Megan Ruble, and Galen Sato. Performances run approximately one hour.
