(Los Angeles, CA. May, 2012)… The Orgasmico Theatre Company is pleased to introduce a world premiere production of EXORCISTIC: THE ROCK MUSICAL PARODY EXPERIMENT at this year’s Hollywood Fringe Festival beginning June 8th, 2013 – at Hollywood’s Open Fist Theatre.

About The Show

For a film that came out 40 years ago (On June 19th, 1973 was the NYC premiere according to IMDB) the influence the Exorcist has had on cinema is unquestionable. Whether you think it’s horrifying or laughable, it remains iconic, full of classic quotables of cinematic history—all of which make it into this PURE ROCK musical written in the 70s style of Ozzy, Bowie, Iggy, Santana, the Carpenters, Creedence and Partridge Family. EXORCISTIC depicts the dichotomy of Good vs Evil through use of a four-piece band that summons the demons that root in man’s dark corners and sneer in the face of God…

But that’s all hooey, right? No one really believes demons exist anymore…Do they?

Among the chief doubters is the cash-strapped Orgasmico Theatre Company, whose players (in this play-within-a-play) decide to capitalize on the 40th Anniversary but refuse to believe that “evil” really exists in the 21st century. Instead, they dissect the film’s cultural relevance, its controversial themes, the 1970s mentality/morality, and put it all into a big ridiculous intellectual “experiment” that allows them to break the fourth wall and engage the audience.…But at what cost? The dangerous thing about live theatre is that if evil really does exist, then no one is safe!

About the Production Team

Book, Music, and Lyrics Written by – Michael Shaw Fisher
Directed by – Pat Towne
Arrangement and Musical Direction by – Michael Teoli
Produced by – Ken Sawyer and The Orgasmico Theatre Company
Choreography: Olivia Goldberg

The Orgasmico Theatre Company made its debut in Hollywood Fringe Festival 2011 with The Barking Pig which got in “Best of Fringe.” Last year’s DOOMSDAY CABARET: A Rock Musical of Apocalyptic Proportions about a symposium of apocalyptic freaks and geeks meeting on 12/21/12, took home “Best Musical” and “Best of Fringe” and went on to do an 8-week run at the 2nd Stage Theatre. In 2012, Michael Shaw Fisher was asked to desist from his parody until the Geffen Playhouse’s more serious play of the Exorcist was over. Finally, Orgasmico finally brings this hilarious rock opus to the stage with William Peter Blatty’s blessing!

In EXORCISTIC, Fisher is united with his DOOMSDAY Arranger/Musical Director, and Sacred Fool’s resident maestro, Michael Teoli (Carnevil, Tonya & Nancy). The outrageous Pat Towne (Joe’s Garage, Sketches from National Lampoons) directs a cast of rockers including Jesse Merlin (Silence! The Musical, Re-Animator: the Musical) and Laura Sperrazza (lead singer of the Glombies.) Orgasmico also enlisted as a producer/”horror expert” Ken Sawyer (Lovelace, Deathtrap) to lend his love of horror and oversee the madness.
