Fringe Publicity Manager Job Description 

Responsibilities

  • The Publicity Manager will support the Communications Director in an effort to expand the visibility of the Hollywood Fringe Festival by managing and developing the publicity department for the organization.

  • Collaborate with the Communications Team on an Editorial Calendar and coordinate press releases with other marketing efforts (weekly newsletters, social media, etc).  

  • Develop a Pitch Plan to creatively pitch new and existing press contacts about upcoming Fringe events and programs.

  • Draft, edit and send press releases to our list of press and industry contacts.

  • Maintain the Fringe Press List by researching new contacts, removing old contacts and building relationships with existing contacts.

  • Secure news coverage for the Hollywood Fringe Festival as well as year-round initiatives (workshops, Town Halls, deadlines, etc).

  • Influence decisions about marketing, advertising and other initiatives.

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in publicity & press relations (Candidate must have experience pitching and/or writing press releases)

  • Candidate should be proficient in basic computer skills (Bonus points for experience with Google Docs/Sheets, MailChimp and/or Slack)

  • Available to work 5-10 hours per week in the off-season (July through December), 10-20+ hours per week during pre-season (January through March) and Festival season (April through June), depending on current initiatives.

  • Desire to work in the Fringe environment: we are a young non-profit arts organization centered around an annual festival.

  • Ideally, the candidate will be an imaginative, confident and hard-working team player.
